I was browsing another forum that I visit, and I came across this post, now I won't post the entire thread, just the part that really jumped out at me.

quote:
...I have a son who just turned 6. He throws 40mph with uncanny control for someone this age....He is not a big kid, just extremely gifted athletically

What ever happened to playing just to enjoy the game?

I saw this kid at showcase recently and was floored. His fastball touched 41 a couple of times, but he mostly pitched at 39 with some late tail and was really breaking some bats. He had a tendency to hang the slider but that could be worked with in time for second grade try outs. The changeup right now is the only thing holding him back which he routinly runs up there at 29mph, but its always rolling.
DeeMax, I believe his mental approach was lacking as he kept referring to Barney in the dugout, wears a spider man watch, which he won't take off, and he gets upset when the Empire tells him to take it off. Then when the 3 best fielders all run after the ground balls at the same time hit by opponents, he gets really upset because it was his turn to throw it to lil'Josh. If he doesn't improve his poise, he may not make 6 yr old All-Stars or Travel team. But not to worry, Dad will just start a team and make him the Star. But the movement and velocity... Wow!!!
