Some of these are pretty good, so I thought I'd share. My personal favorite quote isn't listed. I don't know if it's a real quote, but from the movie Cobb:

Louis Prima: With all the great players playing ball right now, how well do you think you would do against today's pitchers?

Ty Cobb: Well, I figure against today's pitchers I'd only probably hit about .290

Louis Prima: .290? Well that's amazing, because you batted over .400 a... a whole bunch of times. Now tell us all, we'd all like to know, why do you think you'd only hit .290?

Ty Cobb: Well, I'm 72 %&$*#@! years old you ignorant son of a "gun".

A legendary HS coach in our area just retired after this season. The San Jose paper ran a nice long article about him and it ended with a quote something like this:

Interviewer: Will you attend your HS's games now that you've retired?

Coach: "Yes I think I will. I plan to sit in the stands where I understand the best coaches are anyways." Big Grin
"If I'd just tried for them dinky singles I could've batted around .600."

"What the hell has Hoover got to do with it (his contract being bigger than the Presidents)? Besides, I had a better year than he did."

Babe Ruth

"Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer."

"I've found that you don't need to wear a necktie if you can hit."

"If there was ever a man born to be a hitter it was me."

Ted Williams

Two greatest hitters ever!
