Top 25 D2 Baseball Programs Over The Last 6 Years

probably splitting hairs but if Mercyhurst is 3 then West Chester is to low at 23...you can throw a blanket over those 2 and Millersville and have no real separation.

I just saw that the CCAA is not playing baseball in the spring. Does not make sense to me. I believe there are 2 or 3 CCAA schools in the ranking here

West Chester had a great 2017. But, they haven't come close to that in the Top 30 rankings since that time.

of the west coast teams listed, I think only cal poly Pomona is CCAA.

UCSD played (briefly) with the CCAA in the 2020 season.  I'm not sure if they are/were supposed to play with Big West in 2021 or if that comes next year.  We have a user here who would know.

Chico State has has a lot of success and WS appearances and probably belongs on this list.

Oh, and there is another program in transition here.  Dixie State is moving to the D1 WAC

Thanks. I was not aware of Dixie State moving.

Chico State didn't make the top 30 rankings in 2015, 2016, 2018 or 2019. That knocked them off my list here - although they were very good in 2017 and looked promising when 2020 started.

Southern Indiana

From 2014 to 2019, they averaged 36 wins a season

USI won a national championship in 2014 (also 2010 but that’s out of your criteria)

D2 CWS appearances ‘14 , ‘16, ‘18

Have had multiple players drafted, most recently Logan Brown in ‘18

But...3 of the last 4 years, albeit including 2020, they didn't finish in the top 30 of the coaches poll.

Well, I don't know if they belong in the top 25 or not, but you basically got the upper midwest schools right in Mankato, St. Cloud, and Augustana(SD). There is some good baseball being played at those schools.

Both those schools are on the list and both belong - as do some others. But Augustana was D2 National Champs in 2018 and Hayden Fox always has Minnesota State ready to play!

My money is on Prachniak getting the HC job at Delaware when Sherman's tenure ends in the not too distant future.

I cant think of any other reason he would go there as an asst. couldn't be money, it is not a premier program, he doesn't have any apparent need to leave where he is...I think you are spot on.

Word on the street here locally is that new West Chester Head Coach will be Mike LaRosa, he is currently the HC at Widener a local D3 and quality program. I believe he is an alum of WC baseball. Neither school has made an announcement yet but people on the inside at WC say it is done...so I guess we will see.

Well there ya go, the timing terrible but it is west Chester and they only decided to play a couple weeks ago after cancelling in the fall.
