So I read an article in the magazine "Total Texas Baseball" that said they think the best 4A teams are in the south including CC Moody, New Braunfels and Schertz Clemens. I being from Dallas have not heard of these teams but it suprised me that teams like McKinney North, Highland Park and maybe even Mesquite Poteet were not mentioned.
Do ya'll agree with the article or have different opinions on the subject?

Any and all comments are welcome

I do think those teams from the South that were mentioned will be strong. Arlington Heights and McKinney North will be the cream of the crop in DFW. Poteet will be strong, but lost a lot of pitching. Highland Park can't replace the pitching and didn't have the hitting last year to go with that pitching. McKinney North lost 5-6 seniors, but they had a deep bench and a number of returning starters. A couple of move ins will help them a lot. As always, I'm sure there will be a surprise or two also.
Brent-

Moody has just gone down to 4A, and their 5A track record seems pretty impressive:

2002- Regional Semi-Finalist (lost to SA Reagan)
2003- State Semi-Finalist (Lost to Round Rock in Semi's, 0-2)
2004- State Champs (Def Flower Mound 6-1)
2005- Regional Finalist (Lost to Smithson Valley 0-1)
2006- State Semi-Finalist (Lost to Katy 0-2)

Not a bad track record in 5A. I think they should and will be a strong contender in 4A.
New Braunfels won it all last season, but with the graduation of Jeremy Erben (Weatherford), I think that New Braunfels Canyon will be the team to be reckoned with out of New Braunfels. JP Ramirez, Tyler Ogle, and some more of their '08 buds are very talented. Moody is always good, but with Danny Grande off to Oklahoma, they lost a great pitcher. Still - they always seem to find more talent. Clemens has stepped down from 5A to 4A, but I am only aware of one of their players competing in quality select ball.
OK, I am back......football season is over for us, I've used both my deer tags, and I am starting to think about baseball season again.

In East Texas, Longview Pine Tree is set to have a great season. We've got a new coach (Steve Marrs who has taken two different schools to the state championship game), both of our top pitchers are back from injury and throwing well (Jeff Thompson - TJ surgury and my son Brian - two broken scapulas), a new catcher who is entering public school for the first time after being homed schooled for 10 years - he is one of the best I've seen, and a young hitter (sophomore)named David Perkins that many of you will hear about in the next couple of years. He is the best hitter I have seen maybe other than Kaskow or Tant Shepherd - and he is only 15 years old.

Alot of things have to happen obviously but these guys should be good. They are coming to the McKinney tournament in March.

Also, while I am at it, congratulations to all the Tiger players on all the committments and signings. In fact, congratulations to all the signings by everyone. It is great to see all their hard work pay off.

I'll cruise the boards again now that I have time again. I still have a hog to kill and then crappie time is coming up but I really look forward to baseball season again. We actually may be able to launch boats again here in East Texas.
