What schools are in the TCIS Conference?

As for PVI, they should be good. PVI's Costello and McGee are going to be on the cover of the next ESPN RISE magazine, so apparently ESPN RISE thinks they are set for great years. PVI also has about three or four other outstanding pitchers and they will be very hard to beat.

I was thinking just yesterday who the top 10 or so Div I private school teams in Virginia will be this year. I was thinking the old standards PVI, STAB, and ST Christopher's would all be back in the top ten. How is Collegiate? Flint Hill is, I think, going to be very, very good this year. What about St. Stephen's, BI, and O'Connell? What other Div I teams are out there competing for a ranking?

How many teams make the VISAA State tournament field? Is it 8, or do they have play-in games and such?

If this is accurate, and he can keep a good head on his shoulders, O'Connell may have a chance. If memory serves me correctly they are returning 2-3 pitchers that were pretty consistent last year, and should only improve after a year of playing in a very tough conference.

Let us know how PVI does in scrimmages vs. McLean and TC Williams. That will be a good guage of how good they are.

They are just scrimmages, so not a real good gauge. Both good programs...PVI will not have made final cuts by then and both teams will probably try to get as many kids on the field as possible....That said, better then nothing.

I heard the PVI-TC Williams score was 6-5,PVI. Was the other game close ase well?

PVI did "beat" McLean, 10-8. MHS led the entire way until the 10th inning when their final pitcher gave up a number of runs. MHS's Fitzgerald did not pitch at all. Buckley went 3 complete for MHS giving up no hits and living in the upper 80's. Sborz also pitched 3 for MHS and looked solid in 2 of the 3.

Costello was struck with some bad luck as he gave up 3 infield hits but pitched well.

PVI had trouble with the bats until some less experienced pitchers hit the mound for MHS. PVI did indeed "win" but I'm not sure you would have called them the stronger squad.

However, it was a scrimmage and it's really hard to make any true judgement calls. I would think both head coaches were very pleased with much of what they saw.

Very good assessment...scrimmages...where all the teams played all their players...doubt any of the coaches were that concerned with the scores, more concerned with checking out what they have...I happened to see much of 3 of 4 of the PVI scrimmages (not a stalker I live right down the street) PVI has pitched a different pitcher in each inning of all the scrimmages...McLean is well above solid and Sborz (soph) looked real good, nice add...TC and Yorktown have some nice players, just not as deep as the others seen. IMHO
