4thGen and I just got back from this Showcase last weekend. I wanted to make a quick post to say how well things worked out. There were 14 coaches from very selective schools in attendance plus four pro organizations represented, two area scouts. Six of the Ivy League schools were there along with a number of other high academic east coast schools. Six of the 14 schools sent there HC. The amazing thing was that the organizers capped attendance at only 55 kids. The coaches and scouts got a good chance to evaluate each of the kids and provided lots of feed back. At the end of the weekend each school talked to the parents and players about their program, and the process of selecting a school and what it takes to be accepted at their University.
Obviously, this showcase was not for everyone. The SAT scores and GPAs of the kids in attendance were very high, kids with a realistic chance of being accepted into the schools that were there. I didn't know anything about the organizers before hand and since 4thGen is an 09, we won't be attending next year, but I thought it was a gem of an opportunity next year if you have a player that is considering this type of school.
