Inveritably, when we begin to discuss individuals, several are omitted, which leads to hurt feelings.

I'll answer for Train's team though and he is right regarding the fact that Coppell has several prospects.

Their two main guys are Cole Green (UT commit), arguably the best HS pitcher in the Metroplex and Jonathan Kaskow (did I spell that right?) -- a Stanford signee with a sweet stroke. The Cowboys have several other talented athletes.

The area has a number of D1 signees to watch and several pro prospects -- you might want to include Prestonwood Christian Academy on your list of teams to see.

Dtiger - I figured Rupp was the starting catcher at PCA since he played catcher in the AFLAC games. What position is he playing this year?

I heard Brooks will catch Swagerty and Rupp will catch Hill --- who knows? Smile Hey, they are both All-Americans --- how can you go wrong? The Lions are very talented, and well-coached --- surely they will win state! Cool

Rupp will catch in pro-ball....Prestonwood simply has the luxury of being able to use a lot of kids against their level of competition. Before you jump on me, I'm not taking shots at private school baseball.....and I'm a huge fan of PCA and these kids. Most of the PCA roster would make postitive impacts on public school teams at all levels.

Go Lions.

GO PANTHERS! Smile
Springlions- In one word, yes. He was pretty dominating at the Aflac game against the best. I've seen him pitch multiple times, some times on short rest, and he still get it way up there. Fast fastball, nasty slider, can change arm angles, natural tail on some fastballs (I don't want to say he throws a 2-seem... not sure). Nice change-up as well.

It is actually Cody Brooks. The reason I heard he was starting over Rupp is that Rupp had academic problems and Cody then established himself as the starter. When Rupp came back, they put him at DH. Thats second hand so I may be wrong.

Cameron did not DH all season. He was a regular starter and position player. When he was not catching and did not catch much he played outfield. Cameron has been an outstanding student this year. I just think that most of the players on P-wood can only play certain positions. There are several big kids on that team.

There are other outstanding players on the team that no one has mentioned- Collin Coats - Dallas Tigers -did not play this past summer- Chay Lytle- (D-Bat) and Jerry Owens-Brandon Merrill-Mike Straton.

By the way Prestonwood has 5 of the best catchers in the state. What about Swaggerty,Hill, and Straton. They could be the starting catchers on any High School team in this area.

There are also several other pitchers on Prestonwood that could be top three pitchers on any High School team in the area such as Paterson,Lytle and Merrill.

All that I know is that they should be good and they can hit.

BAAAACCKKK - I don't think anyone intended to slight the other PCA players....I believe most in this topic are focusing on the seniors and some (not all) of the players you mentioned are sophomores and juniors. You are correct, they appear loaded in all aspects of the game.

I didn't realize Hill was a catcher (He is listed as a RHP on his summer teams roster).... I have followed him for several years and did not know that....guess I should follow closer. Wink No doubt, he is an outstanding athlete.

It is kind of unfair that P-wood has all these catchers... I would've liked one of them last year... Wink. Is there any private school that SHOULD be able to challenge them? Also, in a general question, why are private schools in Texas usually the weaker athletically? It seems like most private schools outside of Texas are the schools to go to for sports. Recruiting? More money in these areas? I don't know, I just find it weird. Some Jesuit schools around the nation have been considered top 25 at baseball multiple times-sometimes multiple schools in the top 25. I can assure you, this Jesuit won't be any time soon. Frown

Dtiger -
Liberty Christian-Argyle, Dallas Christian and TCA should all give them a good game....I don't know that any will defeat them. I believe Dallas Christian and TCA both defeated them last year.

I don't recall which private school knocked them out of the playoffs in the semi's last year. I would assume whatever school it was would be a contender again this year. (I think it was Midland Christian)

Prestonwood beat Midland Christian (Chris Withrow)in the State Tournament and lost to Houston Second Baptist in the State Semi-Final Game. Prestonwood has only lost 1 starter this season which was Stephen Oshlager (sp).

I think 1 reason is that in other states, ALL private schools are able to compete in the same district as public schools. In Texas, with the exception of a few (Jesuit...); Public and Private are seperated and not allowed to compete against each other for the big prize.

Yes, in those states that compete against public schools; recruiting is widespread. A very strong Louisana program has been known to dip into Texas and snag the top players for their program.

I think in Texas is hurts the top players at the private schools, only from the standpoint of facing top competition on a regular basis. Now, the players themselves are known, so they will get their due. It helps them to pile up stats, and that is why college pay little attention to stats.

My .02 cents.
