Coach 34/33,

You've got quite a task ahead of you in trying to replace players like McMurray, Cappetta, Chmielewski, Dain Hall and probably a few more that will be playing football this fall.

Congratulations Coach on an unbelieveable run in a terrific wood bat tournament. For us to go 1-5 in pool play, be seeded 22nd out of 24 teams and then win 7 in a row over 2 days to fight our way into the championship game was amazing. Beating teams like the Seattle Wave, Liquid Ice, Baden Baseball and other top teams to reach the final game was just a great experience for the boys.

I know losing that finale to a great EDH Vipers team from Sacramento was disappointing but taking 2nd place with our 17's in a tournament dominated by 18's and up to 5 college players per team made many fans take notice of your team. If they didn't know it before we arrived they certainly know now that this group from Chicagoland can play with the big boys.

Looking forward to the fall tournaments already. As a father, it just doesn't get any better than this.

Rosy,

Thank you for the kind words.
I am very proud of these young men. They gave it 110%. What made me more proud than the wins, was their will to win. Everytime someone knocked us down, they got right back up. Every game there was a new hero.

The pitching staff was tremendous:
Gerry Martinez, Grant Monroe, Nick Chmielewski
Kasey Ourada, Eric Wyman, Michael Bradarich, Steve Godawa, Grant Fillipitch, Pete Cappetta.

Despite having our lead-off hitter (Josh Tolan) out with a pulled quad and our # 5 hitter (Kevin Crane) out with a virus. This entire team picked each other up.
Chmielewski came back from a nasty bug and threw a 3-hitter in the championship.
Godawa was a nasty closer in quite a few games. Jared Levi played injured and hit some bombs.
Bomb squad - Trepel, Levi, Goldberg, Fillipitch (I hope I didnt leave anyone out).
Van Asdlen caught 4 games on the last day.

Heros of the tournament;

Michael Bradarich - Niles North
Matt Burch - Crete Monee
Pete Cappetta - Montini
Nick Chmielewski - Sandburg
Kevin Crane - Crete Monee
Grant Fillipitch - Lyons Township
Steve Godawa - Buffalo Grove
Ian Goldberg - Lake Forest
Dain Hall - Barrington
Jared Levi - Glenbrook North
Gerry Martinez - Grayslake
Casey Mc Murray - Lyons Township
Albert McCormick - De LaSalle
Grant Monroe - Grant Monroe
Kasey Ourada - Hinsdale Central
Jordan Rosenberg - Highland Park
Josh Tolan - Highland Park
Andrew Trepel - Minooka
Brett Van Asdlen - Minooka
Eric Wyman - West Chicago

These young men did a great job representing Illinois and don't be suprised if some of them sign with some west coast colleges.
