We're playing in a tournament with pitching rules. The last two games we've needed to steal some bases to get runners in position to score the 10th run(slaughter rule) so we don't have to burn innings early in the tournament.

Both times the other team cried and accused us of having no class.

My nice response is if they were on the other side of the score, they should be doing the same thing and we shouldn't be complaining.

My not-so-nice response is if they could play better, they wouldn't have to worry about the slaughter rule.

Coach May,

I played there, at USC-Aiken for Coach Randy Warrick and the Pacers from fall 1987 till spring of 1989 before being signed by Jim Thrift to a professional contract and placed in Carolina League as 27 year old rookie. Here is the link to USC-Aiken.

Agree with TR's original repsonse - tournament objective is to win this game as quickly as possible and worry about the next game, saving pitchers ion the process. Have done the same thing myself [I still have an old friend who played on an opposing softball team 20 years ago - when I dropped a bunt with a man on third to end the game at 10-0 their whole team howled - guy still gives me grief - my reply was "what if you hit Benny [our pitcher] with a liner drive in the next inning" - he was our only pitcher.

I'm onboard with this 1000%.

I'm starting a new thread on a related topic
