My son's team (currently u11) has decided against going to Cooperstown next year (2005). His coach said he's heard of some great tournaments in St. Louis, Omaha and Phoenix among others. Being new to this travel ball culture, I am not too familiar with all the different baseball associations and their tournament offerings. I think the coach is looking for a memorable trip for the boys a little closer to home. We've been to Las Vegas and want to try somewhere else. I'm curious to hear about anything from the midwest to the west coast and what is required to enter or qualify. Any website suggestions would also be great. Thanks

Been a few years since my son participated in these worlds series events, but as I recall, KC Sports has the Road to Omaha Tournament. Great experience for the kids!!! Includes a ticket to the College World Series. The kids had a blast & competition was very good, from all over the US.
Super Series attracts a high level of competition, at least from down south & west. They are headquartered in Arizona. USSSA & AAu were about equal. AAU in Oklahoma is strong!!
Triple Crown WS in Steamboat Springs is a joke at best! Fields are horrible & spread out over 60-80 miles apart! Opening ceremonies were in the livestock/rodeo arena! When it rained, as is prone to happen every afternoon, it stunk for miles around! Competition is B-C mostly.

Each of these organizations has multiple qualifiers, Regional Finals , State Finals & World Series events.

Good luck!
Don't forget CABA, from my experience, a well run tourney, with great competition.

And TRHit hasn't been to Texas lately. When my son was 12, the teams here were top notch. There are always a team or two that didn't belong, but for the most part, in the Major division of any tournament, you are going to find very tough competition.

We went to the Super Series Winternationals last year in Phoenix. Had a great time until I came out to the parking lot and found my suburban broken into with over $8,500 in damages and losses. My car an about 26 six others were all broken into in about a three hour period. Local law enforcement and city officials didn't seem to care. But were scheduled to go again this summer.

My personal recommendation if your looking for good competition and a great opportunity to mix in a family vacation is the Super series tournaments in San Clement Beach. Its a get town, with uncrowded beaches, well run tournament and your only about a half hours drive from Disney land and Anaheim Stadium.

No, I don't work for the Orange County Vistors Bureau.

I wish to aloso add to Kings comments that the umpiring in Omaha is top notch. Over the l;ast six years I have had many positive comments from out of state parents on this.

Way to go Blues.

Last weekend , between the three major tournaments here and a couple of local ones as well, I heard that there was spmehting like 1300 games scheduled by the local umpire organizations over a four day span. Some parents a talked to were staying as far away as Red Oak Iowa and Lincoln Nebraska. (It can be a little tough getting a room during the CWS.

Great, great time.

Be sure to schedule it next year.
