In 16U tournaments, are there any rules governing whether or not a player can play for more than one team?  Not in the same tournament obviously, but week to week.  In other words, can a player be active on two different team rosters over the course of a summer... playing one weekend for one team and a different weekend for a different team (in a different tournament).  I know that there are USSSA rules on "freezing" rosters, but wondering about this since many/most 16U tournaments aren't sanctioned by USSSA.  My specific question comes down to whether or not a pitcher can pick up some extra games subbing with a second team while playing with a different team across the summer.  Appreciate anyone who knows about this.

When all is said and done, more is said than done.

Rosters at the high school ages are very flexible.   If you play in a league, the league will freeze the roster...but that only applies to that league.  Tournament rosters are very loose.  As you said, it would be in poor taste to have a player on multiple teams within a given tournament (although for some tournaments, it could be done... coaches do not protest rosters remotely close to the same as they do in pre-HS age groups...what I mean by that is that we just don't care, since most of the tourneys are round-robin format and we just want our guys to get time on the field).  The time when rosters really get frozen for tournament play is at the end of the year in AABC state, regional, national tournaments.   But a regular summer-time tournament, players can "pick up" with multiple teams and it is not an issue from a sanctioning body standpoint.
