I don't think they require an invite either. My son recently received a letter in the mail to attend a TPX Top 96 event in the Midwest this year. But I'm sure he received the letter because of my contacting them last year about an event, so they are just following up with me this year.

He is attending the one in Missouri this year so I'll have some first hand experience to pass on soon!!
They do get names off mailing lists from high school coaches and college coaches. I noticed the name of the topic is TPX Showcase Questions.....please remember this isn't just a showcase. It's a clinic and showcase both. I've heard some complaints from players about this clinic and 90% of the time those players thought it was just a showcase. It is a good event, as long as you know what you're signing up for.
My 2010 son just attended the event in Springfield, Mo this past week. As stated in earlier posts if you know what you are signing up for......it is a good event.

The first day was run pretty well with a showcase type format, then clinic instruction in the afternoon. The second day brought heavy rain so the remainder of the event had to be moved inside to a local pitching/hitting facility.

Overall, I would recommend the event. My son got some one on one time with college coaches at various levels......He told me that some of the instruction helped him fill in some gray areas of his knowledge base.

While this appeared to be exclusively college coaches, the event was well attended. Everyone can make their own recommendations after due research, but given the opportunity, we will attend future events.
Ditto 32Fastball!! Son attended this event in Springfield as well, and I felt it was a "very" wothwhile event. I have been to a number of college camps (Even D1) and a variety of other showcase type events, and this one in my opinion was just what we were looking for.

The coach to player ratio was exactly as described. Our son was able to talk to a couple of different coaches from different levels of college ball. I also felt that the coaches who rated our son were right on line with what I saw/already knew about him.

Just can't say enough about this event. We will attend again and keep our fingers crossed that the torrential rains will hold off for that weekend!
