Is it a high school showcase/event?
Would it be odd for a 2012 to get invited to one prior to freshman year in High school?

My son who was a junior last year attended the top 96...it's a great event. that being said there were about 4 or 5 underclassmen (freshman/sophs') there and they were clearly out of place at the event. I wouldn't take a kid unless he was a very good sophamore. That's just my advice and recomendation.

From what I hear about your son, he wouldn't be out of place at all.
However, I have also heard that TPX Top 96 showcases are not worth the money.

I had a bad experience with the TPX showcase...my opinion its not worth the money, but I did hear that other people liked it

Deldad, will your son be performing at the Varsity Level this season?
A benefit of the TPX clinic is that the kids work with college coaches. It is not "just" a showcase. I think it might be useful if your kid is interested in attending one of the colleges whose coach worked at the clinic. A drawback is that it costs $$$$ to bring in the college coaches.
My son has never been to one, but several of his Norwood teamates say they made their college connections there.
