Eric,

You will never know 100% for sure, however if you are getting emails asking you for information and to fill out the school's questionaire(s) you will get some idea of interest. If they are calling then you know for sure of the interest.

If you are interested in a particular program then be proactive and send the coach an email.

Good Luck!
2013 has a BeRecruited site and has been seen at a few showcases. Consequently . . .

We get a lot of emails suggesting that he's good enough for us to spend $75 for a local DIII camp or $750 plus air fare to a DI across the country. We figure those are probably money-makers but perhaps some limited interest based on very broad parameters at this stage.

Now, since they can't contact him yet, we have gotten several requests for him to complete their recruit questionnaire. We don't know if that's worth much excitement either at this early stage, but we promptly complete and return them just in case!

It certainly would be nice to have a clue when there is some genuine interest, though.

I was wondering how you would go about finding out who is tracking you and what colleges are following you.

I think it depends on how the player is "marketing" himself. In our case, we knew who was watching and interested by talking to our TRAVEL COACH. He guided us to what schools had made an inquiry and suggested we initiate contact with that school.

This dynamic changed somewhat after July 1 after junior year when recruiting discussions opened up considerably as coaches could call my son directly. We knew exactly who was very interested and who was casually interested after that July 1 date. The travel coach was still engaged but to a lesser degree than previously, as he no longer had to be a proxy. I hope that helps answer your question.
