What should have happened? What teams won in the deadline deals? Losers, as in which tweener teams blew their shot of postseason glory? Thanks for the comments.
The advent of the Wild Card has cut down a lot on trades. It was refreshing to see that teams didn't help reload the Yankees.
Boston would have made a huge mistake in getting rid of Ramirez in the 3way deal that was proposed. He may be a flake, and he may be a distraction to the team, but they wouldn't have replaced his bat in the proposed deal. Now, this winter may be a different story. I'd be surprised to see Manny in a Red Sox uni next spring training.
I think the Braves did OK by picking up Farnsworth. If Leo Mazzone can tune him up a bit, he can be a valuable addition to the bullpen, since Kolb just doesn't seem to have the confidence to get it done.
I believe my and Orlando's Cardinal's may have lost. They are waiting on the Walking Wounded and have won 5 of their last 10 games. In this time, they have drop their lead over the Astros from 14 1/2 to 9 1/2. Standing Pat will be alright if the walking wounded return. HOWEVER, WE ARE IN TROUBLE IF THEY DON'T. MIA = Molina, Roland, Sanders, and Walker. They are starting at any given time 4 players that were in the minor leagues just a couple of weeks ago.
The Cards will be ok. Don't fret having young players... the Braves have so many kids that they need a Team Mom! There's a lot of time left until the playoffs start, and you can still squeak players through waivers, if needed.
