Player starts out freshman year at a D1 with a NLI. He transfers to a DIII for the spring semester and gets hurt. He will be getting a medical waiver for this year. Now he’s thinking of going to a JUCO for a year and then to a different D1. I’m trying to figure out when he would be eligible to play at the D1. Would he have to sit for a year at the D1? Would he have to graduate from the JUCO? What happens if he finishes the JUCO next December? Would he be eligible for that next spring at a D1?

First off, did the player get a complete release from his NLI commitment? This is important so he isn't impacted when he transfers to the next Div. I school.

As a 4-2-4 transfer going to a Div. I school, he'll have to graduate from the JUCO and have the required number of transferable credits in order to be immediately eligible. In addition, Div. I doesn't permit midyear transfers to be immediately eligible. He would have to wait until the following academic year.
