I didn't think your question warranted a public scolding; don't think you need to apologize. Players get talked about all over these boards by people other than their parents all the time.

Very interesting. Is that a VHSL rule or is that specific to your district? Also, is that for baseball only or for ALL varsity sports?

Thanks.

I believe the confusion comes in due to the cause for transfer. If the parents move residences, then the player is eligible immediately for all sports.

Here are the exact VHSL transfer rules (from the policy manual):

28-6-1 (1) TRANSFER RULE/Move Requirement (1-71):
A student who moves from one school to another with no move on the part of his parents is ineligible. This student can become eligible immediately when his parents move to the zone served by the student’s new school.

28-6-1 (2) TRANSFER RULE/State Event Qualifier (5-94):
Students who transfer to another VHSL school after qualifying to the state tournament are not allowed to participate in cross country, wrestling, indoor and outdoor track/field, tennis, golf, gymnastics, forensics and debate; parents or students may request a hardship based on the circumstances for the move.

28-6-2 (6) TRANSFER RULE/Foreign Student (3-93):
A foreign student who is not under any foreign exchange program and who transfers to a VHSL school in January is not eligible for spring sports, unless the parents move into the school’s zone.

I'm not sure where the "2nd move" rule comes in... whether it's a VHSL or Southeastern district thing (like the 2.0). But I know a few years back at one SED school a senior player moved to another school in the district so that he could start at QB in the fall (he had lost the starting job at his original school), then transferred back to graduate at the school he had attended all along but was ineligible to play baseball in the spring.

well im sorry if im wrong.but i just want to make sure about transfers because of this past team i want to keep track of i know i cant keep a whole roster.but i want to keep track of players on each team at least the best players on each team.i know predictions arent too easy but like western branch going to the state semifinals and like great bridge always good and nasemond river i think will be good this year.

New note:SED goes to a 6 team district tournament.
Parents have become smart (or at least they think so) by getting their eighth grader or ninth grader to a school district so they can get in a system, right? Alot of transfers happen around that time, unless there are public to private transfers--our school got two ninth grade transfers this year who will contribute on Varsity, but we lost one to a public school also. We moved our son to a private school for the opportunity to play Varsity a little sooner. His school played eight public schools last year and played a total of 30 high school games--more than public can play.

FYI, that Portsmouth Christian team looks great this fall.

The fall should be this way... The fall should be instructional and should give coaches a means to evaluate. Hickory is a good example: they have split their fall players into three groups to maximize playing time for every player. I would imagine the Hickory coaches are not as interested in what fans think as they are in evaluating their players.
