What does everyone do in the situation where you need to fly to your playing destination and your player has both bats and catcher's gear that he needs to transport on the plane trip?

Check the bag and carry extra bats for your teammates. Never had to pay the oversize or overweight fee, even with all that gear.
Bought a big catcher's bag and put all clothes, bats, gear, and cleats in it as check bag. Most will also not let you carry metal cleats on plane so you have to check them also.
Yep, get a big catchers bag , stick bats etc , it’s heavy but not more than 50lbs , plus southwest lets you have 2 bags for free !!
My son would carry his glove in his backpack
Any special instructions on preparing the bag or using a type of bag?
I opted for Southwest for our last trip to Showball, due in part to the free checked bags. They lost my son's bat. They found and returned it on the second day of the showcase, after we had scrambled and found a new one. Made for a stressful trip. Check only what you can't carry on.
I was thinking: Better hope that the baggage inspectors don't know the resale value on eBay of a high end BBCOR bat!
Everything will work out, just don't talk about "bombs" your son hit while going thru security or on the plane.
Good point!
Son always carried his glove, hat, sunglasses and one uniform set in backpack carryon. Easy to find a bat and cleats if luggage is lost.
