I haven't seen him to form any opinion.

I think that it's tough with all of the expectations placed on (very) young first rounders, who usually do well their rookie year, then get stuck their second season out.
He may end up in the bigs next year but he probably needs more seasoning and to see how he handles a full season in pro ball. Perhaps a September callup. Personally, I don't think that some of the things he relied on in college ball are going to be all that effective at the MLB level once they have a good scouting report on him. I think he'll make the adjustment but it will take some time.
He will be interesting to watch. The one thing about him is he is very smart.Went to college at UCLA early. He is smaller for a pitcher, and many believe he may not have the stamina, but scouts werent sure about Timmy L.either.I like the way Bauer handles pressure.Ive seen him pitch several times, and watched during playoffs, and world series.

When it comes to players making it in the MLB, so hard to predict. But I will enjoy following his career.

I agree he is very young, no need to push him (I hope that they don't), might be interesting to see if the Dbacks get into playoff contention what it may cost them to add players come trade time.
BTW, son got opportunities this fall to watch pick #1 and 2 this fall, 2 most likely should have been #1. Hultzen is the real deal and should be in ML next season.
A few thoughts:
1.) Arizona trading for a top flight starter like Trevor Cahill does not help Bauer getting to MLB,
2.) Arizona apparently not having Joe Saunders on the 40 man does.
3.) From a business perspective, it seems highly unlikely he gets to MLB any time before late May/early June.
4.) Having watched Lincecum in college(once) and many times at AT&T, and watching Bauer last Spring at Stanford, it is pretty hard for a fan educated eye to see all that much difference when they have command.
I would think Bauer starts at AA and the question to be decided is whether he can prove he can get outs at that level when he doesn't have his best stuff.
We happened to see him at Sunken when he had very good stuff...dominating of very good college hitters.
If I had to guess, he can get outs at the MLB level with his best stuff, or close to it. What happens when he doesn't have that those quality pitches...that is where the rubber will meet with business decisions, on where he starts and ends 2012, in my view.
