Hello,
Many of you may remember TRhit, Tom Rizzi of College Select Baseball. Unfortunately we lost Tom in the fall of 2013. Our family has been looking to continue Tom's work and help high school ball players in their journey to play collegiate baseball. So we have started a memorial scholarship in his name, and now a Showcase Tournament.
This tournament’s purpose is to fund this scholarship and increase the scholarship amounts to deserving ball players. The scholarship is open to players who participate in our showcase tournament that meet certain criteria (you or your staff’s recommendation and essay submission)…so this means that your team’s participation is needed for your players to have a chance to be awarded a scholarship.
The Tom Rizzi Memorial Showcase Tournament format is designed to showcase the team's talents in front of all levels of collegiate and professional scouts.
Here are some things you can expect from the weekend:
· 3 Games Per Team (Wood Bat)
· Full Defensive Skills Showcase
– 60 Yard Dash.
– Position Player Arm Strengths
– Catcher’s Pop Times
– Pitchers will have radar readings during games
· Offensive (Wood Bat) Skills Showcase
– Live Batting Practice Showcase in Indoor Facility (right at the field)
We already have a lot of commitment from college coaches and scouts throughout the region and will continue to build up a list that I will be able to share with you as we get closer. This is a rain or shine event. We will be having baseball activity and showcasing players no matter what! Please bear in mind that this is a Showcase Tournament. Eligible players are 2015 Grad and above, however we would highly recommend showcasing your players 2016 and above as much as possible (to help maximize the scouts ability to recruit at the even).
