What are the chances of an univited player getting an opportunity at one of these schools? Do they have tryouts or are most of their players recruited/invited? My '05 LHP attends a small prep school in VA and has drawn interest from a couple of VA D-3s, one of which indicated he would get innings as a Frosh. He wants to attend a Texas school, however, and has been accepted to both Trinity and Southwestern. Chances of his interfacing with the coaches before a decision has to be made and deposits paid is minimal.

My son has also been acceppted to Southwestern, a very good academic school. He and I spent a half of day with Coach Shelton and I was very impressed with the coach and the school. He took alot of time learning about my son and talking baseball with him. He is very accessable by phone or email. Go to their website and both his email and phone are listed. He will reply to either. They do have a tryout and some of their players are invited. They have a successful program and have had for a while. I have met other parents and players from the team and all had positive comments. I am not sure if this will be my son's college choice but if it is I would support it 100%.
Calmom, feel free to PM me or RHPMom. RHPMom's son is a terrifically talented right handed pitcher who just completed a fabulous freshman year. Ours graduated last May and enjoyed everything about Trinity: the academics, the baseball and San Antonio. Not sure where in CA you are from but I know of two No.Cal players who are headed there in the Fall. Be happy to help with questions you or your son may have. The coaches recruit nationally and have had great success in CA with their efforts.
