I don't know exactly when they start.  I expect that they are likely focusing primarily on 2016 currently.  I do know that the recruit heavily out of the AZ Fall Classic Academic game.  If you have an interest contact the RC, its never too early, especially if its a school you are interested in.  If you don't have a video put together yet, do that.  If you do, it doesn't hurt to send it.

LHP,

One of the top pitchers for Trinity over the last several years was from Minnesota!

Trinity uses the AZ Fall Classic and Stanford Camp to identify much of the talent they look to recruit on a National basis.  Since he started, Coach Scannell has a strong position on recruiting nationally and he seems to get better at it every year.

Historically, however, because they do a really fine job of identifying talent which has D1 potential, they tend not to allocate a lot of recruiting resources toward that talent base until the NLI period approaches and especially when it ends. Players will know of their interest, for sure.

As with BOF's son, the coaches are looking for really good talent and players with top academics who end up either without an NLI or who are borderline with solid choices and "fit" at the D1 level once the NLI period has expired in November.  Once that happens, they will heavily recruit those types of players during the period from November to April of a players senior year.

With this said, I don't see any reason you could not reach out and contact  Coach Bunch, the new recruiting coordinator, at this point. JC is a really good guy and one of the best who played at Trinity.

LHP2017,

I believe they identified my son at the Stanford camp of his rising Sr summer, and then probably saw him again at some of the PG tournaments through the summer and fall in Arizona, and then finally at the AZ Fall Classic. They might have seen him earlier, but I don't really know. They were not on our list until my son did not sign an NLI, and once that happened they were very active in talking with him. My son's recruiting went late because he got Mono and some of the D1's following him wanted to see him play and that rolled into his Sr HS season. They were actually the last school we visited prior to his making a decision, and I remember this well as we were there the last weekend before May 1st cut off and he committed to them a few days later the last day of April.

They were always a strong program prior to my son being there, but for the last five years straight they have gone to Regionals, and finally this year to the CWS, so maybe this affords them a little more luxury in recruiting earlier than they did 4 years ago. I know they do Stanford, Headfirst, and AzFall Classic. Like IFD recommended I would reach out to Coach Bunch. You probably fit their profile as they like to recruit pitchers in particular from the North as they have an excellent pitcher development program. Coach Smith is fantastic and could be at a D1 somewhere but I think he makes pretty good money on the side so he sticks around at Trinity.

Good luck!

BTW, MAD thanks for the link I had not heard that interview before. It confirms what I have posted here that many coaches want to see players live, not just video or references.

My son had the same experience as BOF's son. Stanford camp, follow-up letter in the fall of his senior year. Saw him a second time at the AZ Fall Classic. After that contact increased until he visited over MLK weekend where he watched a practice. He visited a second time during his HS senior year (Easter break) again he watched practice, went to a game and more important got to sit in on classes and spend the night in the dorms.

Send an e-mail to Coach Bunch. Coaches would rather recruit qualified kids that want to be at the school versus ones they may have to sell.
