Taking place this June ( 18U 6/22/07 thru 6/27/07 ) during the College World Series. Anyone going or ever been before? They are also having a showcase on the 22nd.

Son and I went last year as 13u. Tournament headquarters were actually across the river in Coucil Bluffs. That was where the showcase was also. Staying in Council Bluffs is convenient to the CWS games but your own games could be played far and wide. Getting into CWS games is not a given even though the boys are given some general admission passes. Nevertheless it was a blast. I wouldn't wait too long to start getting your rooms.
And they are really calling it the Slumpfest? Not the Slugfest? LOL!
Went with an 18U team last year. Games were played far apart. The field in Lincoln is not a good one and we had 2 games on it. Mostly dirt. bkekcs was right about the players not guaranteed to get in World Series. We managed to but had to wait a while in line and stake out seats. The showcase deal was not that good. Pitchers might have gotten a chance to pitch 8-10 balls and there are about 8 pitchers pitching at the same time. College coaches not always around to see everyone so good chance for a player to get missed. All in all, it is not a tournament that we will do again, but boys had fun. Of course, they have fun anywhere that they are playing. They liked Arizona tournament better even though it was much hotter.
My son 14u team will be going to Nebraska 6/17-6/22. Does anyone know anything the Chase Suites in Lincoln or can recommend a hotel?

If your schedule is anything like ours was staying in Lincoln will cause you to do a lot more driving than if you were to stay closer to Omaha. My son's team stayed at the Heartland Inn in Council Bluffs. Another possibility in the Settle Inn in Council Bluffs or Bellevue. I would get going on your reservation. I checked on where I stayed last year and it is already full.
Council Bluffs is conveinient to most of the tournament activities. So is Bellevue. I stayed in Bellevue last year. It is fairly close to Rosenblatt Stadium and fairly centrally located for the fields you could play on.
tnt mom I wish we were going back again although I won't miss the drive. My son is 14u as well. What team is your son on?
