Runners at 1st/2nd. Ball hit out of park, but runner at 2nd never touches 3rd. Technically the other 2 runners would have "passed him" on the base paths.
Runners on 1st and 2nd, hit and run. The batter hits an infield fly, the runner on first passes the runner on 2nd, and then the ball comes down and hits the baserunner. That works right?
That was it. The runner, running from first, didn't see the stop sign and ran past the the guy returning to second and then the ball hit the guy returning to second.
Infield fly - 1st out Passed runner - 2nd out hit by ball - 3rd out
Bases loaded, line drive hit up the third base line, hits R3 in the helmet, ricochets off, hits R2 in the helmet, ricochets off, hits R1 in the helmet.
That would require a trio of very large heads for that to happen Rob...I'll steer clear of Barry and just say that the Mets could probably pull it off!
Gopher- I believe that play actually happened a while ago in the minor leagues (Frontier League maybe?). I myself first heard it recounted by former Giants broadcaster Hank Greenwald. I've since heard Buck Showalter claim that he was the 3rd base coach in that game played in the low minors.
