Usually the tryouts are open to players 16 and over. For the younger players (still in high school) I think there are multiple benefits in participating. They get to see where they stand against other ballplayers that are hoping to go to the next level. A good FREE way to be seen by baseball people that know alot of other baseball people. Somtimes there are some college coaches present. But even if there are no college coaches there, pro scouts are constantly in contact with the college coaches in their area. There is alot of information that passes between them, both directions. And usually good communication between the scouts and the attendees. Ask the scouts questions. Listen to what the scouts are saying. Lots can be learned. I know there are many posters on this site that have attended pro tryouts and have reaped benefits. Hopefully they will share their experiences with you.
