At my HS tryout last year, the coaches split the players in half.(there were about 75 players trying out.) One half did running drills and the other half set up the cage and hit. For running drills, we had to do 2 timed 40's, 2 timed 60's and 2 100's. Then the players switched roles and the players waiting to get into the cage took a lot of various groundball drills. I was cut last year because I wasn't in shape and I lacked the intensity it took to win. To make me feel better about being cut, I realized that the compitition was very high and our team took home the JV and V state titles. But that isnt an excuse. Be ready to play ball and look good doing it. In that I mean dont wear baggy clothing and look like you were born to play on the field. BE EARLY!!
