will leaving both hands on the bat all the way through give you a shorter & quicker swing? will doing that sacrafice any power? i've been late on the ball recently and i was thinking about trying this. thanks in advance.
Ben- I have found that keeping two hands on the bat has helped me maintain a more level swing all the way through the zone. If you look at many major league hitters you will see that plenty of them only keep one hand on the bat after contact. I feel that it is really only preference the way you finish, just make sure to keep two hands on through contact. As for quicker, I'm not sure about that, sorry.
After contact, neither hand matters...well...except to keep the bat from flying out of your hand. Top hand release for a right handed hitter could help your time to 1st base though.

After contact it's OK to release your top hand. The top hand doesn't matter anymore, just make sure it's palm up at contact.
