The New coach at UC Irivine also happens to be the American Baseball Coaches Association/Baseball America Assistant Coach of the Year for his work at Cal State Fullerton during the 2004 season.

Collegiate Baseball ranked UC Irvine 36th in the publication’s Fabulous 40 pre-season poll. It is the first time the Anteaters have been ranked in a pre-season poll since UCI joined the Division I ranks in 1977-78.

The Eater's have a great baseball facility and are in the Big West Conferance. The playing schedule is first rate, playing one of the hardest schedule in the nation.

Not sure I agree that is the measurement of the quality of a college program. I don't know much about UW other than from watching them when they have played at Stanford and watching them improve in the Pac10 and nationally each of the last 3-4 years. From the outside they appear to have a very solid program that is getting better yearly. My son played summer ball with 2 two of their players. Thought they were very high quality players and people. One was a walk on who ended up starting for 3 years and then getting drafted last year. From my son's comments about the quality of those guys as teammates and watching how they improved to get to the national recogntion they are getting now, they must be doing something right I would think.
Hi Bullwinkle,
I've enjoyed reading all of your posts the past few years. We attended the UCI Junior Day last weekend. We were also at the UCI/USC game at the USC tournament which UCI won. I was wondering which parent you were when I looked at the crowd. How is your son enjoying his first season as an anteater? If I recall he is a freshman, isn't he?

My son is an "06 player and UCI is high on his list.
