they have about 20 walkon invitees a year plus 5 early signees plus tranfers who r usually juniors, that means a lot of kids have no chance to play or even make the team.they end up with about 5 juniors and 5 seniors every year.that means out of 50 players they had in 2 years 40 have left or not made the team, beware thhey over recruit and only have a little over 500 record plus r in the middle to bottom of the big east every year .
Our son was highly recruited by Coach Penders and Turgeon. They are both terrific, honest and excellent baseball guys. they treated us and our son with respect and were always upfront and straightforward. I can't say enough good things about them and their program. I have not heard of the high drop out rate and quite frankly that would suprise me. Our son opted to go to an ACC school for the competition and weather. However, UCONN was right there until the end principally because of Penders and Turgeon. I would highly recommend their program to anyone. They will win and most of all your son, if he chooses UCONN will play for a class program run by classy guys. Chris Podezwa is the third coach and he also is a class act. don't count them out in the long run. they also have a loyal and very supportive alumni in CT.
