I am a head coach for a 5a school in central texas. Historically, we have been to the playoffs twice since 1976. I am fortunate enough to have great support from my administration and community (our Youth Program includes me in on all decisions with Youth Baseball). We play in a tough district but are talented enough to compete, yet not a playoff caliber program yet. Since coming here as an assistant (I handled recruiting then and now obviously, 53% of our seniors have gotten scholarships, very few that wanted to play didn't find a place. So we've had some talent, just not a complete team). This year we had 3 guys hit over .400, 3 in the mid to upper .300s, and 3 in the low to mid .200s. I believe we run a top notch off-season. We lift, run, do drills, have class time, etc., but I am wondering what others do which gets me to what I'm looking for...

Is anyone willing to share their off-season program? How do you develop your players? I beleive most HS teams have 3-4 good players, regardless of level (1a-5a) but how are you making your average player better than you opponents? Any plans (philosophy, drills, techniques, schedules, etc) you'd be willing to share would be appreciated. My hope with this is to borrow something from you to benefit my kids and I'd be willing to share in return.
