Thanks PD

Follow-up question: Is a player considered to have "played" in a game if they suited up but didn't get in the game? For example, if they are suited up for 10 varsity games, got into only 3 games, are they considered to have played in 3 or 10 games? Just wondering. Had a couple of kids sent down to JV the other night and one of the dads was asking the question and no one knew the answer.

I won't argue with a man as observant as you Wink

FYI, Brett M had his baby last week. Momma and kid are doing well. In true baseball fashion he named him "Easton". Smile

"Louisville Slugger" might take up too much space on the birth certificate. that is great news...tell him I said congratulations!

BTW, may come by the Ranger Ballpark in Arlington tomorrow to watch some ball.

A kid can play in the JV Game and then he can also play in the Varsity Game that follows on the same day. I am pasting the exact rule from the TEA/UIL Side by Side Manual.

Baseball/Softball:
(1) A single game; or
(2) a double header (a student could play two back-to-back varsity games or in a varsity and junior varsity game, back-to-back. Each game counts as one of the student’s total games for the season.) Students may play in additional games at the conclusion of that school week because UIL does not limit the number of games per calendar week in these two team sports.

17 Games - 3 Tournaments
19 Games - 2 Tournaments
21 Games - 1 Tournament

OldDude,

If a player suits up, but does not enter the game in any capacity, it is not considered a game played by that player.

Several times last year, we had some pitchers who would pitch for the JV, then stay and suit up with the varsity and be in the dugout, but they could not play in that game.

If that player is on the line up card for that game, does that count as a game even if he did not play?
