UIL Rules Violations

UIL athletic coordinator Peter Contreras said--- "The precedent has been if there's a violation, the penalty is imposed on the school and-or the school's coach, but the team stays in it.''---

Sounds like this road had been traveled before so the school or coach will be reprimanded. Time to clean up the milk and move on. Might be a good idea for at least your coach to know the rules.

Why do you need rules to tell a coach not to use a pitcher for more than 10 innings in a day especially in two games ???

My thought is, that the message is being sent that if it's a tight game in an elimination series, what the heck, break the rule and the team advances. A reprimand or probation doesn't seem like any big deal.

The Connecticut brilliance just hasn't shined down this far.

This is somewhat like using an illegal peice of equipment. Once discovered it is removed from the game but only if the equipment or rule is challenged. It is the umpires job in this situation to enforce the rules once the infraction is brought to his/her attention.

In this case, the umpires do not enforce. It is up to the schools/district/UIL to enforce.

Speaking of eqiupment, what is the rule on catcher's masks (two piece v. one?)

It is a NFHS rule, not a state rule.

U.I.L. rules and H.S. Federation rules do not go hand in hand. Umpires tend to stick to what they are paid to do and that's call the game. Administrators at the game site should be the party to step in. What administrator is going to know that rule unless the opposing coach made them aware of it. After the fact it's going to be handled with a slap on the wrist. The coach who pitched the kid should have known better as well. Before I read where every kid is different and all the other BS. Save your time defending a coach who do such a thing. IMO it's crazy.
