umpire late call

I'm almost certain the play could not be reversed after a pitch was thrown, but we've got some really good umpires on this site that will soon have the correct answer for you. Seems like a whole can of worms would have been opened had the batter banged a base hit on that next pitch and THEN the base umpire tried to change the call.

That is unusual to say the least. If they weren't sure about the ruling then they should have gotten together after the play, not a pitch later. They got the rule right but not in a pretty way.
