Runner on 1st. Batter singles. Runner on 1st goes to third with a close play. BU calls runner safe. Coach comes out and ask BU to check with PU. PU calls him out. That coach comes out and say PU was responsible for runner that hit the ball and should not over turn or be in a position to overturn BU. PU stays with the call. Was this correct protocal?

If the PU didn't cover third then he has no part in the conversation unless there was a ball dropped.
Now, most crews have the PU cover third and the BU takes the BR. The BU has the outfield coverage from the F7 to F9. The PU has the F7 to the line and F9 to the line. The only thing that changes that is if the PU has Fair/Foul on the right field line.
