50 Grand! LOL!!!
It is amazing! I know of a team that was set up in a similar fashion, not sure about angst against another team, but certainly the motivation was to provide a showcase for his son.
The Dad built an entire baseball complex for his team.
Now, I don't know what I really think about that, but the entire motivation was for his son. They did field competeive teams though, and were well coached.

This guy obviously has deep seeded problems. He is now a certified nut job.
There was a guy in our area who spent 20K to stack a 14U team for his son. They had awesome uniforms. He bought matching gloves, bats and bags for the players. The problem was he couldn't teach the game and it was obvious. Plus his son who couldn't pick his nose started at first. His best players bailed early in the season. He scrambled for players every week. The team was typically 1-3 in pool play. His son wasn't good enough to play high school ball.
My favorite part is the team name.
THE VENGEANCE!!!
THE VENGEANCE!!!

Indeed, there will always be people with more money than brains. However in this guys case, he is certainly mentally imbalanced.

I think you just insulted John Henry.

John Henry is stupid? He went from being a poor kid on a farm to a billionaire commodities trader. He owns a prestigious baseball team (won it's first two championships in years under his ownership), a prestigious s0ccer team and a prestigious NASCAR team. I would like to be that stupid.quote:Originally posted by Texas1836:

John Henry is an outstanding trader, I will acknowedge that. The comment was made tongue-in- cheek. Only one person can stop bickering so I will stop here.
