Does anybody have any info about these schools such as do they generally recruit out of state players, are they known to over recruit, what are their coaches like in terms of ability and player development, What are the facilities like, and What is the fan base like on campus. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Some quick comments regarding UVA:

Nice facilities.
In visits there, it appears they have a good (and growing) fan base.
Coach O'Connor expects above average students, as UVA has fairly rigerous admissions standards..
I do know they have a fair # of out of staters.
I don't have hard data to back this, but it appears they do not over-recruit.
Overall, a beautiful campus, great academic reputation and an excellent baseball program!

GOOD LUCK!
Miami recruits within state, locally. You have to be top ranked in the nation to get a scholarhsip to Miami.
Miami has made improvements to their baseball facilities, but not all inspiring although Mark Light Field is one of the best fields where my son has played. It's more intimate than many fields and is a city campus.
The weather makes up for what the program lacks in facilities. The AD is very strict on academic requirements. The costs are over 40K a year.
When I see a list like this come up for questions I wonder if a kid is a stud and being realistic or dreaming. A 2011 player hasn't played his soph season yet.

My son is an '11. He's started putting together a list of schools from D1 to D3 based on academics and baseball. He wants to research the schools academically and see campuses whenever possible. Then he'll consider some camps.

Vanderbilt is his dream school. He's a very good player playing up one age group in the summer and played up two in the fall. He's noticeable in games (a HSBBW poster remembered him by his field presence ... and his son spiked the **** out of him* Smile). But he realizes he has to progress a lot baseball-wise in the next two years and become one of the best players in our state or it's nothing but a dream.

* fillsfan - I told my son I chat with the dad of the kid who spiked him. He laughed and accused me of consorting with the enemy. He loves to hate Tri-State. It's nothing against the team personally. He loves competing against them. When I asked him if he would be interested in playing for them, he said no since he said he wants to beat them in an elimination game before he runs out of eligibility. Smile

When I talk to the coaches of my sons travel program they state that one of the biggest problems with fittings kids with schools is that most parents and kids have much loftier goals than their talent level. Suprise!!!
When asked to submit their target schools the big programs of the ACC and SEC seem to appear on alot of lists.

RJM, My son had a good fall season, he didn't spike anyone. Wink Tell you son tryouts start next Saturday, it's not to late to come over the dark side.
