We live 300 miles away.We were just trying to get some locals perspective on the program.
Very young program last year ... there was a posting over on the Wofford fans site comparing the teams in the conference showing the number of underclassmen/upperclassmen per team.
The two bottom teams based on record were the two teams that were the youngest.
Wofford had 22 underclassmen, 8 upperclassmen
UNCG had 23 underclassmen, 7 upperclassmen
Obviously, that's going to make it difficult for them to compete in the the hit-crazy SoCon that's loaded with offense. Be patient.

A view from a local. Many players and families are upset with the way the program is being run. This concern is not something new. Most in-state major recruits have heard the "drums beating" for a new HC; which is causing them to stay away.
H3 can attest first hand that the HC will certainly not win any congeniality contests.

Please clarify.Are most instate major D1 recruits staying away until a new HC comes in or is that what is keeping them away.
This school has beautiful facilities,a funded progam,a great baseball environment,all the ingrediets for a lot of success...What is the holdup?

I thought UNCG was turning a corner with the hiring of Chris Roberts as pitching coach. It was short lived as he only stayed for one season. Roberts was a great guy, and added much needed personality to the staff.
As Braves alluded to in his post, the situation at UNCG isn't the best and they seem to be treading water. Reasons:
1. most assistants at UNCG only last about 1 year and then move on. Hard to build consistency with that happening.
2. most recruiting is done by assistants, not the head coach. Again, that hurts the program.
3. Though the facilities are good, hard to gauge the commitment of the administration of the University. Program isn't fully funded (scholarships).
4. Head coach has a reputation around the state as being very difficult at times. That's as nice as I can put it.
I really don't see things improving consistently until there is a turnover there. They will have some good seasons, but may struggle to be consistent. This is nothing new. First heard about the coaching difficulties there back in 2004.
