While I cannot speak directly to a baseball factory invitation, my experience with an Under Armour showcase was decidedly negative.
It was held up in St.Pete Fl, and promoted as a big D1 school participation event. We had my son attend several events by PG, Top96, etc., so we knew what to expect.
Imagine our surprise when my son pitched a complete game against the Orlando Scorpions(19 of 25 kids committed to mostly D1 programs), did not allow an earned run, yet there was not one scout watching the game. Those are the type of days you hope your son will have in front of schools he is interested in, yet nary a scout saw the performance. Another one of their marketing ploys was to say the top kids of the tourney would be chosen for their All Star team to go without cost in a bigger tourney. Needless to say we expected to be in consideration since my son scattered just 4 hits, had 7K's and one walk in 7 innings against a monster team. Yet he was not chosen for one of the free slots. However we later received an invite to participate because he was selected as a "special talent" or some such term, but we would have to pay to send him. Needless to say we would not have sent him even if it were a free spot because AU, despite producing very good clothes, are not in the same league as organizations like Perfect Game when it comes to exposing kids to scouts.
I have to agree with BOF. We went expecting much more and it turned out to be just a money maker with not much more to offer than taking more of your money the further you go.
