UNITED LEAGUE BASEBALL'S TEXAS WINTER LEAGUE
PLAYER INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION FORM

ULB'S TWL Purpose:
To provide United League Baseball Field Managers an opportunity to fill prospective roster spots for the upcoming 2007 summer season.
To provide high school seniors, college graduates, and professional baseball free agents an opportunity to showcase their talent during a 24 day extended tryout.
To provide United League Baseball players presently under contract a winter instructional league to be able to improve their skills for the upcoming summer season.
To provide the Rio Grande Valley with a first class winter professional baseball league that is marketed directly towards the Winter Texans, and the region's business community.
Roster/Game Information:
25-man Rosters: First 100 players to register will play
4 Team League: Edinburg Coyotes, Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings, Laredo Broncos, Brownsville Toros
4 Day Training Camp starting January 15, 2007
4 Teams competing with Opening Day on Jan. 19, 2007
24 Games starting January 19, 2007
2 games per day
Game times 11:00am and 3:30pm
General Information:
-- Local transportation to be provided to and from hotel and ballpark.
-- Best two out of three championship series beginning February 17-19.
-- All game days will include batting practice, infield and one-on-one instructions.
-- All games will be played at the Harlingen Field in Harlingen, Texas.
-- Personalized Championship Rings will be awarded at the end of the season to the League Championship Team.
-- Game/Player statistics will be reported to Sportsticker/Howesportdata and will be e-mailed weekly to all Major League Baseball’s Directors of Minor League Operations.
-- At the conclusion of the ULB’s Winter League Season 16 Players will be guaranteed an invite to United League Baseball’s Spring Training for its 2007 Summer Season with the possibility of being signed to a 2007 Professional Contract. Spring Training is scheduled to begin on May 1st, 2007.
Rules:
Players must be 18 years or older at the start of the league (Jan. 15, 2007; Must be born before 1/15/1989)
Players must have minor league, collegiate, or high school experience during two of the previous three years
Fees:
$500 for Season registration paid in full upon registration
$65 uniform fee (players keep uniform jersey & cap)
Players receive a complimentary post game concessions meal
Discounted Lodging will be available at a rate not to exceed $600 for the entire season
Players can bring their own wooden bats or purchase bats through ULB at a cost of $25
Catcher's gear and batting helmets are provided.
Players are responsible for their own transportation to and from Harlingen, Texas.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Your registration is a firm commitment to participate in the United League Baseball's Winter League. Cancellation will NOT result in a refund. Deadline to register is Friday January 5th, 2007 by 5:00 pm Central time.
Managers/Instructors, including ULB Field Managers are:
Doc Edwards, San Angelo Colts: Doc Edwards is now in his 50th year in professional baseball. He played, coached, and managed at the major league level for 17 years. His major league coaching stops include time with the Cleveland Indians and Philadelphia Phillies. Doc managed the Cleveland Indians from 1987 through 1989 where he managed 308 games and posted a 173-207 record (.455). Doc also managed in the minor leagues with several major league organizations and is currently the manager of the San Angelo Colts of United League Baseball
Buddy Biancalana, Amarillo Dillas:
Buddy Biancalana played 11 years of professional baseball, including five years in the major leagues as an infielder with the Kansas City Royals and the Houston Astros. Buddy starred in the 1985 World Series between Kansas City Royals and the St Louis Cardinals, and recieved the highest number of MVP votes among the position players. Buddy was the field manager for the Amarillo Dillas in 2006.
Ricky VanAssIburg, Alexandria Aces: Ricky VanAsselberg took over as the Alexandria Aces manager in 2006 after three prior campaigns in Alexandria as a player (1996, 1998-99). Ricky led the Aces to the Inaugural Season ULB Championship in 2006 defeating the Edinburg Coyotes 3 games to 1. He was also named ULB Co-Manager of the year in his first season as a Field Manager.
Vince Moore, Edinburg Coyotes: Vince Moore began his managerial career with the Edinburg Roadrunners of the now defunct Central Baseball League in 2005 becoming only the second manager in the franchise’s history. Moore posted a 49-45 record and led his squad to its fifth consecutive post season berth. Moore became the first manager of the Edinburg Coyotes in 2006 and led them to a 17-0 start to their inaugural season in United League Baseball. Under Moore's leadership the Coyotes posted the best regular season record in the ULB at 57-33 and led them to the inaugural United League Championship Series.
Eddie Dennis, RGV WhiteWings: Eddie Dennis spent several season as a player and coach in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Eddie was a coach in the Blue Jays organization and has a World Series championship ring as a result of his coaching in the Blue Jays minor league system. Eddie Dennis served as manager of the Rio Grande Valley White Wings of the now defunct Texas-Louisiana League from 1998 through 2000. Dennis led the White Wings to the TL-L Championship in 2000 which is still Harlingen's only professional baseball championship.
