My son and I just returned from the University of San Francisco after attending their weekend showcase.

What a great event and what great coaches!

Coach Giarratano and his coaches along with Camp Director Coach Zahn were fantastic to the kids, teaching and giving each and every player excellent opportunites to show what they can do.

They also had a very informative Q & A session where the answered all questions and throughly explained the recruitment process.

They were fair, honest and geniune but unfortunately most of the kids there they will never be offered a scholarship, due to limited scholarships and their academic selectivity.

But the were encouraging and realistic - something that's needed in helping a player accurately assess his future in baseballand where he will fit in.

My son may never play at USF, but he still received the time and respect from a great group of men, and I thank them for all that they do.

Anybody else who attended have any thoughts?

SactoBB...

Check the USF posts on the "ask about colleges section" There are some very positive posts there that echo your view. You'd enjoy the info and the sentiment.

We did junior days there they recruited my '05 on an official trip and took a long look at my '06. Of the scores of places we researched and visited the coaches easily make my top 2 for exactly the reasons you have mentioned. Time, respect, team feel, desire to help, knowledge, fair, honest, genuine...

Hope you had a chance to meet coach Moore, he's great as well. If it were a good fit...I would send my son to that team in a minute with no reservations.

One of the regular HSBBW posters has an '06 son going there next fall.

Cool

I posted something about USF in another place on this website. But I echo your comments. We were blown away at how candid and energetic these coaches presented themselves. It was a great experience, put me at ease about asking some questions (I asked the one about how they handle academics when the team is on the road).
