I see that their record last year was 15-41. With a ton of freshman. Over 20 freshman. It was Coach Neal's 2nd season. I'm sure that he is doing some rebuilding. Looking back at past records .500 is a good year for the bearcats. UC looks like a great place for a young man to get a quality education and have the opportunity to get to the next level in baseball. AAC did have 4 teams that made it to a regional last year. They do play in pretty good conference. The baseball facilities look to be top notch. They have had some great MLB players come through there system.

My question is; What is holding them back from being a conference contender or getting a regional appearance?

Just looking for some insight on that school. My 2017 son was told to contact this school after they saw him at a showcase over the weekend. So he has been doing some research on there school & baseball website. He should be making his call today sometime.

Thanks in advance for your response...

NOT sure why I put this in a DM versus here. Nothing that anyone couldn't see. So here is what I wrote:

My son was recruited by them and would have been a freshman there last year. His team (Wright State), also, played them 3-4 times as they are within 50 miles of each other (mid week games). In fact my son pitched against them twice.

I think Coach Neal basically started over. Lots of freshman as you said. I do remember he has a "profile" of what kind of pitchers he is looking for and the one that stood out to us is tall. 6'3" and above. It will be interesting to see how the program develops over next few years. I would see how many of those 20 freshman are coming back this year. I think they have all the makings of a team that could be on the rise

As far as facilities. Really Really nice. Brand new less than a year old turf field. Sits kind of down so that top of stands is level with surrounding area. It is right on campus. Not great parking but there is a parking garage next door which you have to pay for.

UC itself is in the inner city. Not to far off campus is pretty rough. That being said, I don't hear of any real issues with that, kids just quickly learn/ are told where they should not go. I know lots of kids that go there or have. In fact my son's GF goes there and loves it.

I researched it quite a bit for 2 of my son's academically and for what they were interested in (business and education) good programs. I know their Architecture and music programs are nationally renowned. Great School in general.
