Oxy is an excellent school, one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country. small student body (appx 1600 kids), beautiful campus with good athletics. very good football program. baseball is good but not great. good place for the serious student who wants to play DIII baseball.
Hendrix is clearly an up and coming program. The have a very good young coaching staff that is benefiting from a strong recruiting effort that goes beyond their "backyard." They also have a new field that is terrific.
They won the SCAC last season but were a few horses short of what was needed to make an impact in the west region.
The Oxy program is a legit DIII progam, not at all just for fun. They play in the SCIAC w/ Redlands, Whittier, Cal Lutheran, LaVerne etc. It's a good DIII league with good competition. They have some good players and a pretty nice field. I went there so you can PM if you have any other questions.
Redlands is a great school both academically and from a baseball perspective. The school has one of the better campuses in Southern California regardless of size.
Their baseball program is very solid and competitive year in and year out. The coach at Redlands has a very good reputation for running a program that develops players. It is a very solid program that is getting kids from all over the place. Take a look at their roster.
There are several very competitive DIII programs in Southern California including Redlands, Chapman, and Pomona Pitzer. I think over time, both Whittier and Occidental will also develop. They seem to have coaching staffs that trying to take their program to the levels of the other schools.
Lots of good options from great schools. Plus, you can't beat the baseball weather.
