First of all the academics of the Uof R are top notch--that is a given

As for the baseball program Coach Reina is relatively new there I have found him to be quite aggressive when it comes to recruiting.

Yes I would "worry", if that is the proper term, about the baseball if I am interested in playing there. I assume the boy in question is looking for that "right combination" and if both elements do not fit then it matters not what level of school you play at--the pieces have to fit no matter where you go--Division I, II, III, NAIA or JUCO.

TRHit,

What I meant to imply-obviously not well-that athletics at that particular university should not be their first priority. If the kid is going to U of R, academics should be his first priority (I know academics should always be the first priority, but let's face it, they aren't). You don't choose U of R based on it's baseball program you choose a school like that for it's academics and if the baseball fits, then great.

Now, if he's looking at D-3 state schools, where the academics will be relatively the same, than maybe the athletic programs take a bigger priority in the selection process. AT least that's my humble opinion.
our son has decided to attend U of R because of the academics and baseball. we know that its a fine school and its the right size. we liked coach reina and our son wanted to play baseball. we might have found a d-1 school where he could play but we didn't want it to be a full time job. we felt a sport at the d-3 level while a big part of the college experience, is not the defining event. rochester offered a good balance and a coach that made an impresion. pfbear has it right.

Luckily, there seem to be a number of folks on this website who have knowledge of the program. I appreciate any and all feedback.
