My oldest son will be attending and play ball there next year as a freshman. It's actually called "St. Louis University" (SLU). Their coach of the last 19 years, Bob Hughes, resigned in June and the former Central MO State University coach, Darin Hendrickson, was hired in July as his replacement. CMSU has been a perennial D2 baseball power for the last 5-6 years.

SLU's mascot is the "Billiken" (visit their web-site for the explanation of what that is).

Historically, SLU played in some pretty good baseball conferences (MVC and C-USA) in which they didn't fair too well but, two years ago, they jumped to the A-10 and, in 2006 made the CWS Regionals for the very first time. Although SLU returned a lot of players from the 2006 squad, and expectations were high for 2007, they had some tough late-inning losses very early in the season(for example, they lost to Oregon State, 2-0) from which they never seemed to recover.

Academically, SLU is a very well-respected school, with a Jesuit background. Of additional interest is their new basketball coach, Rick Majerus.
