Can't imagine the state your from is an issue, although their roster is typically Texans. there present roster has, I beleive, about a 1/2 dozen from out of state. J.P. Howell comes to mind as a recent out of state player who did quite well and I gotta believe was on scholie. He had left USC and was being hotly pursued by CSFullerton, before he transferred to the LongHorns.

A national power like this gets the best of the best from whereever and scholies wouldn't be limited by where you're from. I guess it just so happens that there is soooooooo much talent in Texas they typically don't need to look much further.

sorry baseball would be tough in alaska..however it is 105 here in kansas today and alaska sounds real good right about now...the boys at the ku baseball camp look wore out by the end of the day no matter how much gatoraide they drink...my son pitched 3 innings this am and looked like he had been on a 20 mile hike in the desert!
Suggest you go to U of Texas website & learn all you can. Student body is currently about 60,000, the largest in the country.

Here's a link to this last spring roster. This will give you an idea of "pedigree" of players...

For 2005, there were 30 on the Roster, 6 of whom came from out of state. Primarily the players come from Austin or Houston areas.
Typically they sign 15+. Some are sent to JC's, others redshirt. Occassionally a freshman starts. The Draft may take a couple.

Scholarships can be as little as $100 athletic to combination academic/athletic. Pitchers receive the most $$$'s.
It is serious baseball!
