My son interviewed recently with one of his top college choices both baseball-wise and academically. We were surprised that he was interviewed by the Director of Student Athletes. Son talked with the coach early on but we didn't know if the coach was still interested. Son wants to attend this school if he plays baseball or not. I am wondering if their decision whether or not to give him a scholarship will affect his acceptance to the school. He does have great grades and test scores which exceed the average score at the school. I guess what has me wondering is the fact that the AD interviewed him for his college interview. All potential students must be interviewed but I guess the potential student athletes all go through him? Any thoughts?

The AD at schools met with those of us on official visits and spoke to the recruits, as a group. At many school, some coaches run by their recruits with their AD before they issue scholarships.

All schools do things differently. The AD has his reasons for interviewing your son, it may be just a ploicy that he has in place.
