I know many of you have Jacob in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much.

Here's an update I shared yesterday on Facebook, while still in NY. We're home in Dallas now.

..........

Friends:

We have truly good news: We've found the surgeon who will attempt to save Jacob's eye.

After striking out with the first specialist here in NY, Jacob's last hope was Dr. Stanley Chang.

Praying and hoping against hope, Jacob relived the accident to Dr. Chang, and went through the exam yet again.

But THIS TIME, things were different.

After bringing several colleagues in to examine Jacob, and listening as none had before, this amazing pioneer of ophthalmology who's nearing retirement said YES: He believed there was a chance to save Jacob' eye, and he would try.

It was only through several intersecting miracles that we were able to see Dr. Chang -- especially the miracle of our new friend, Alice Rosenwald, who not only convinced Dr. Chang to see Jacob, but opened her home to us while we've been here in NY.

She is Jacob's angel.

As I write this, we are in the waiting room preparing to see the corneal surgeon who, alongside the LEAD surgeon Dr. Tongalp Tezel (Dr. Chang's protege) will operate on Jacob.

The 5-6 hour procedure is set for this Monday, Aug. 1.

Jacob is fully aware of the severity of his injury, and the odds of a successful surgery, which are not high. But like us, he knows he's in the very best hands possible, and he has hope.

Just as important, he knows he has a bright future no matter what.

We will return to Dallas tomorrow, Wednesday, and be back in NY Sunday to prepare for Monday's surgery.

To all of you who helped make this possible, whether through prayers, contacts, optimism or all of these, we cannot tell you how much it's meant to all of us. In the end, we know two things: it was the power of prayer and the power of friends that made this possible.

Keep praying for Jacob, please, and thank you for this miracle.

Forrest, Barby, Jacob & Jessica

P.S. We knew Jacob was in the right hands when Dr. Tezel said to him, "I'm treating you like you're my son. If it were my son, I'd want someone to try. So we will try!"

Dr. Tezel says he's seen worse, and been successful.

Here's Dr. Tezel's bio, if you're interested:

Please keep us updated. If you could post exactly what time he is going into surgery I would like to be on my knees at that time asking God to be with him the Doctors and your family. I want you to know that I know many will join me at the exact time he is being cared for in a mass prayer to God that he will provide. I know he is able. I don't know why these things happen. But I do know God's plan is perfect he makes no mistakes. God Bless Jacob and your entire family.
