Within the past week or ten days, I have deleted two separate threads in which several members made numerous inappropriate posts related to a specific youth baseball team. Here is an excerpt from the Board Manners page which addresses the problem:

"We ask that you respect the purpose of the forum and do not act in any way that harasses or personally attacks an individual or group of individuals. We also insist that you act in a manner that ensures a high quality of discussion in the stated purpose of the message board."

There are more specific rules which I invite all members, but especially new members, to read or re-read at http://www.hsbaseballweb.com/board_manners.htm .

I am aware that some new members have come here from another site which had some troubles with flame wars or patterns of trashing and bashing of players, teams, parents or coaches. We will not permit that here. I do not enjoy suspending new members or requiring that prospective new members identify themselves to me with proof of identity, but if necessary, I will do that in order to protect the integrity of this site and the great community which has been built here over the past 7+ years.

If you have any questions about this matter, you may contact me via Private Message or the admin e-mail address posted on several pages of the site, jas@pclink.com.

Thank you,

MN-Mom

I agree with you 100%. My son is an incoming freshman and I wanted to read about the experiences and opinions from current and former high school, college, and even profesional players and coaches. I found that this website provides this.

In addition I value the opinions of the parents regarding their son's experiences with travel ball and high school ball.

There are so many excellant topics on this board which been helpful since it is primarily targeted towards the high school age ballplayer. Yes, pre-high school travel teams have been taken to a new level in recent years, but let us keep the self-promotion about the teams, players, and coaches to a minimum.

Once high school baseball season begins, I think the recently new members of this board will enjoy reading the opinions and threads from the kids that they coached and/or the players that they knew from youth travel baseball. Some of the players will give a short summary of their high school game. I think all of you will find this website very informative this upcoming season.
I agree with you Observer. When I actually read some of the posts I had to finally express my opinion and concern for all the kids being exposed to what ADULTS(coaches and parents alike hiding behind fake names and locations)post. Some members even made a big deal out of that, trying to "twist" and put a "spin" on my words. I was only DEFENDING the boys(and not the adults as was mistakenly thought) who are helpless to this banter. The coaches(adults) can take care of themselves. Saying negative things about the teams that these boys are on is in and of itself disrespectful whether they actually single out players or not. This website shouldn't be about self-promoting teams, players, coaches, or throwing out insults about managers, coaches, parents or players. It should be a site for everyone to enjoy baseball conversation.

I would just like to point out the greatest highlight of the season I have seen. A bunch of boys from differing teams(that previously were opponents and rivals) came together and became fast friends and teammates. That is what a team is about. These players weren't worried about who played for who all season, what their stats were or if their name was posted on a message board. They played as a team and didn't let all the nonsense get in the way.
