FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Great Lakes NTIS Region to Hold Regional Tryout Camps

Chicago, IL – May 10, 2011 – This summer amateur baseball players from Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota will have an opportunity to try out for USA Baseball’s Great Lakes Regional NTIS Team.

The Great Lakes Region will be sending three teams (13U, 15U and 17U) to USA Baseball’s National Training Complex in Cary, NC to compete in the National Team Identification Series (NTIS). The NTIS program, in its third year of existence, serves as a vehicle to identify and recruit the most talented baseball players in the nation to try out for an invitation to USA Baseball’s National Team Trials.

“One of the real priorities of the program is to offer players more of a localized evaluation opportunity than ever before,” said Rick Riccobono, USA Baseball Director of Development. Before you can be considered for the National Team, you must first be identified at a regional selection camp.

“While the priority of our selection camps will be to find the best baseball players within our five state region”, explains Peter Caliendo, Director of the Great Lakes NTIS Region., “Our goal is to provide a top notch opportunity that players of all levels will be able to benefit from .”

Accordingly, Caliendo has assembled a very impressive coaching staff to administer the selection camps. “Our coaches know the game, love the game, and are the best teachers of the game around,” says Caliendo.

The 2011 USA Baseball NTIS again promises to be one of the most heavily-scouted baseball events of the fall. “I was amazed at the sheer number of college scouts in attendance” says Jim Richardson, Assistant Coach for the 2010 - 15U Great Lakes Team and Varsity Assistant at St. Charles North HS. “When you have colleges from the PAC 10, SEC and ACC recruiting at the same event, you know it is big time.”

Baseball players interested in participating in one of the Great Lakes Regional Selection Camps must have been born between 1995 -1998. Visit http://www.greatlakesntis.com for registration details and camp locations.
