Sophomore Cory Nelson (Alliance Christian) was named POW for his performances in the week ending Sunday, March 28.

Nelson was named baseball Player of the Week after hitting .650 on the week as he helped the No. 8/20 SU Hornets to five wins in six games. Nelson drove in eight runs on the week with five extra base hits and was walked seven times.

On Thursday, Nelson set a new school record by going 6 for 6 with five runs scored and five RBI in a 35-13 victory over St. Joseph's (L.I.).

In the Saturday doubleheader sweep over Christopher Newport, Nelson was a combined 5 for 8 with three runs batted in.

He also hit two home runs during this period.
